This summer, we are offering a brand new off-season ice hockey program that will be centered around enhancing an athlete's strength, speed, explosiveness, conditioning, and nutrition to better prepare for the competitive season. The program is designed for hockey players who are dedicated and committed to taking their game to the next level.
The program has been developed and will be led by our team of highly qualified Kinesiologists as well as our Sport Dietitian:
Our programs are designed to be specific to our athletes - everyone has a different body & different goals; therefore training groups will be capped at 6 athletes, all of whom share similar goals and have similar skill levels. Athletes will become proficient in the appropriate movement patterns which are essential to optimal hockey performance. Training programs will also follow a similar sequencing so that athletes will become familiar with their programming, and can continue to train independently throughout their season.
Through consultation with Attain’s Registered Dietitian, Felicia Newell, Athletes in our U16 (U18 AAA Prep Group), U18, and Junior groups will also be provided with a nutrition guideline and plan that is specific to their individual goals and needs. The information provided can not only be used throughout the summer but also throughout the regular hockey season.
Programs for the U15, U16, and U18 groups will be 14 weeks in length, while the Junior group will be a 15-week program.
If you are new to training or are looking to take your performance to the next level, Attain will create and implement the right program for you.

Program Details:
Throughout the 15-week training program, athletes can be expected to be challenged in a fun environment that will involve seven main training components:
Fitness Testing
A fitness test will be completed upon commencement of the program and following completion of the program to detect areas of strength, weakness, and to develop an individualized training plan for each athlete.
Areas tested include specific muscle group strength using our VALD Dynamo device, range of motion, agility, cardiovascular endurance, and power. Athletes will be provided with their results and can track and follow their progress throughout the summer.
Body Recovery and Movement Preparation
The focus of the first few weeks of the program is to return the body to its optimal training state following the strenuous hockey season. Pre-existing injuries and movement deficiencies will be assessed and addressed, and training will include a focus on restoring body mobility and stability, while both physically and mentally preparing for the summer training sessions.
While participating in the program, athletes will have full access to the amenities at Attain such as heat packs, foam rollers, massage guns, and Normatec recovery devices to ensure adequate post-workout recovery.
Hockey-Specific Preparation and Development
Components of this focus area include learning hockey-specific movements required for success in today’s evolving game. This includes power development through active ranges of motion, plyometric work for speed and power, as well as balance and stability exercises to ensure the off-ice work translates into on-ice results.
Strength Development
A large emphasis of this component will be developing strength through compound movement patterns, focusing on the core and lower body to ensure a strong supportive base. The lifts that are performed will be closely monitored for each athlete to ensure proper technique, weight, and progression to achieve maximum development throughout the off-season.
Conditioning and Cardiovascular Development
Intense interval training with a focus on quick movements, agility, and speed will be performed throughout the program. In addition, athletes will be exercising with longer bursts of sustained movements, simulating a game of hockey.
Group Competition/Play
Throughout the training week, some sessions will be devoted to continuing to allow for competition, including playing small games such as spike ball, pickleball, and non-hockey-related sports. Evidence-based training for hockey stresses the importance of being a well-rounded athlete, which these aspects of training will develop.
Training Camp and Pre-Season Preparation
In the final week of the program, athletes will be prepared for their respective training camps or tryouts in which they will be participating. Goals will also be set for the season, reviewed during in-season programming, and the overall summer program performance will also be assessed.

When is payment due?
A valid credit card is required on file in order to guarantee your training slot.
A 10% deposit is also required prior to the first training session.
If the balance is paid in full prior to the first training session then this deposit will be deducted from the total balance at the end of the program.
If payment is NOT made in full prior to the first training session, then the credit card on file will be charged on a Monthly Basis and the deposit will not be deducted from the balance.
What is the Cancellation/No Show policy?
No make-up sessions will be allowed in order to maintain continuity within the group structure.
What happens in the event of an injury that prevents training sessions from being attended?
Due to the individualized nature of the training sessions, very rarely will an injury prevent training from being completed in some capacity. Training can be modified to work around an athlete's injury to maintain the athletic progress that has been made. If an athlete is absolutely unable to train in any capacity, a "make-up" session will be provided at a time that Attain staff can accommodate, based on availability. If an athlete is going to miss an extended period of time due to injury, refund or credit options will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
